A New Voice For UK Gospel Becca Folkes

2014 has seen the rise of a new voice to UK Gospel. With a dynamic, personalised cover of popular Gospel song ‘No Gray’ by Jonathan McReynolds, her original song ‘Get Up’ (on SoundCloud) and a cutting edge, contemporary arrangement of a timeless, classic Hymn ‘My Hope Is Built (On Christ The Solid Rock)’, Rebecca Folkes has introduced herself to the world with passion, flare and a fresh, unique sound.

Known as ‘Becca Folkes’ by her peers, the East London based singer/songwriter grew up in COGIC and has been involved in the music ministry for many years from choirs to know developing as a worship leader in her own right, not to mention her work with Mesij, a young Gospel outfit that flourished in the London Gospel scene and also working with Volney Morgan & New Ye on the single ‘I Need You’ as well as featuring on the I Am BOLD tour 2014. MOBO award winning Gospel rapper Jahaziel collaborated with Folkes on his latest album project ‘Heads Up’ on the song ‘Round & Round’ a song-story which relays how hurt can be turned into hope through Christ Jesus.

Despite her gifting in singing, Folkes’ dream was to become a well renowned theatre and screen actress. However, her focus started to shift, aligning with multiple prophecies received regarding a prosperous career in Gospel music, and that obedience has led her to grow into the artist she is today.

Becca Folkes ministers in London and across the UK, passionate to share the message of Christ to young people in a real and relevant way, and is excited to see lives touched and changed with the release of her debut studio project.
