Audrey Assad recently described the songs from her upcoming album as “little prophets, shouting the truths of God I’ve always believed.” The first song to have been released is the lead single ‘Sparrow’ and is now available on iTunes and Amazon.
The acclaimed pop/worship singer-songwriter, whose debut ‘The House You’re Building’ was named iTunes ‘Breakthrough Album Of The Year’ and topped Amazon’s ‘Best Christian Music Of 2010’ list, releases her second full-length project this February.
Assad, a New York native, began her musical journey after relocating to Florida at the age of 18. It was there that the deeply spiritual Assad decided to focus all of her energies on her faith. A flurry of local shows and worship events followed, resulting in a move to Nashville and a five-song EP called ‘Fireflies’ that drew the attention of CCM label Sparrow Records. Assad continued to hone her craft, writing songs for other performers and touring with Dove Award-winning artist Chris Tomlin. Her full-length debut for Sparrow Records, ‘The House You’re Building,’ was released in July 2010 and peaked at #6 on Billboard’s Heat Seekers chart and #12 on Billboard’s Christian albums chart.
