UK artist Faith Child is one of two UK artists set to perform at the largest African concert in Europe taking place on Monday 27th August at Wembley Arena. 20 artists….15 nations….1 roof! ‘Africa Unplugged’ is the first concert of its kind featuring artists from all over the continent performing together under one roof.
The ‘Picture Perfect’ rapper is scheduled to perform in front of over 12,000 people alongside some of Africa’s hottest acts including Femi Kuti, son of famous Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, Sarkodie (Ghana), 2Face Idibia (Nigeria), UK’s very own home grown talent Mr Silva (Ghana) and hosted by comedian Eddie Kadi. Faith Child is beyond excited to perform at the one-of-a-kind concert. “I’m psyched! To perform alongside some of Africa’s most recognised artists is an honour. I listen to Afrobeats/African music and I think this concert is a great way to get the music out there.”
The MOBO nominated Gospel sensation, whose first album was the fastest selling debut album in UK Gospel, is set to release his second album at the end of the year and will perform a track from the highly anticipated production. Faith Child is keen on making a good impression at the concert and is planning something special for the audience. “Though I’m a UK artist I’ll also be representing Nigeria, so my style will represent the best of both worlds.”
Africa Unplugged work very closely with War Child and Save the Congo, two charity organisations that provide support in countries that have been/are being affected by war, most especially in Africa. “I love supporting charities and I work very closely with my local community so to take part in a concert where some of the proceeds will change lives, makes this performance more meaningful. I’m going on that stage knowing that I’ve made a difference to someone, somewhere.”
