Features Relection - Reflecting On Acoustic Soul With Pearl

Spring 2012 saw Acoustic Soul artist Pearl release an independent EP titled ‘Reflection’. The five song project is packed with lyrical content and creative composition as produced by Terence Clark of X-Min Productions.

Born and raised in Columbia, SC, it’s been a beautiful journey since Pearl wrote her first song. Since then, with God’s guidance and support from family and friends, the artist has authored numerous scripture-based songs and poems. Her music echoes passion, inspiration, emotion, honesty, truth, and God’s love. Pearl’s unique writing style is integrated with basic life lessons from a young woman’s perspective. Her very name serves as a symbol and reminder of Christ’s transforming love. Her bold sound, which can be heard on ‘Reflection,’ which exudes an enjoyable, eclectic flare, all the while, pointing her listeners to Christ, making this singer-songwriter’s message shine bright in a quite dismal music industry.

‘Reflection’ is an organic musical offering that showcases her clean and crisp, yet warm and smooth voice and has a strong scriptural foundation giving listeners messages of hope and inspiration.

Pearl attributes her artistry to the transformation that comes from her personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Some have compared the Columbia, SC native with the richness of India.Arie and Corinne Bailey Rae, while others liken her to contemporary Christian sweethearts Kari Jobe and Jamie Grace. Pearl defines her style as “Soul Folk” – not unlike, English singer-songwriter, Lianne La Havas – and assures that listeners can expect more of this sound on upcoming music.

As the title of the EP affirms, this project reflects Pearl’s definition of success as an artist, to “[present] Christ to the world for exactly who He is – nothing more, nothing less.”
