Rend Collective Experiment Set To Appear On BBC’s Songs Of Praise

Rend Collective Experiment BBC Songs Of Praise

Kingsway artists Rend Collective Experiment will be appearing live on BBC 1 Songs Of Praise: The Great Outdoors at 16:45 on Sunday 26th August 2012. Label-mates Keith and Kristyn Getty will also be taking part in the special broadcast.

For anyone who has seen Rend lead worship at Soul Survivor or on tour with Tony Campolo or Shane Claiborne this summer, there will be little surprise at their choice of song; the irrepressibly powerful ‘Build Your Kingdom’.

Taken from the band’s second album ‘Homemade Worship By Handmade People’ ‘Build Your Kingdom’ is as rich in melody, honesty and truth as any modern worship anthem. Combining the intercessor’s urgency with the rebel army’s courage, ‘Build Your Kingdom’ echoes back to the Psalms and beyond with its call for God to intervene. To see and hear that loud and clear on the BBC this Sunday can only be good.

In urging God to build His Kingdom, Rend are part of the recruitment drive, encouraging the labourers to sign up. It’s a task they have been committed to for a long time. Commenting on the choice of album title, Gareth Gilkeson, Rend’s drummer says “Things that are homemade demand so much more time and love than something made from a factory, yet they are always worth it; the quality and uniqueness are what is beautiful.”

The band’s debut, ‘Organic Family Hymnal vol. 1’ grew in part thanks to a viral ‘iPhone worship’ video, UK tours with Francis Chan and Shane Claibourne, as well as a major market, sold out US tour with Chris Tomlin and Louie Giglio. The band have spent much of 2012 so far in the US, touring constantly.
