Ricardo ‘Rocstarr’ Williams has been engaging with fans via his face book page and has allowed them to vote for their favourite song to be released as a free download ahead of the release of his up-coming and debut solo project, the ‘SoundCheck’ Mix-Tape due for release on 25/12/11. The song that won the vote is ‘C.H.R.I.S.T.I.A.N’ feat. MOBO Award winning artist and producer Victizzle.

With more than 10 years experience in the music industry Williams is stepping up to the forefront to share his life and story with the world.

Hailing from the city of London, Williams was always surrounded by musical influences during his childhood. “I started singing at age 7,” recalls Ricardo. “Since then, I wanted to expand my musical involvement, so I started singing in talent shows, school plays, Church and around friends and family.” The next step for Williams was to create and share his own music, so at the age of 12, he began writing his own lyrics to various instrumentals. Through-out his musical journey Williams has been influenced by artists such as Boyz II Men, Hathaway, Commissioned, Daryl Coley, Dru Hill, Fred Hammond, Tank and Dave Hollister.

Williams already had a set of strong models from which he was able to create his own blueprint. “I think a lot of people try to recreate the songs of the past. I try to recreate the feelings of what I loved about those songs. I try to make my own melodies that bring out those feelings in people. When I write I want you to feel whatever emotion I am going through. I want it to feel personal. I want you to feel like you are in my life.” Williams’ singing and song writing eventually led him to join a premier British gospel group ‘The Company’. Releasing, the wildly praised album ‘The Lost code’ which featured the hit song ‘Here Comes Jesus.’

Taking a brief hiatus from the limelight. Williams decided he would hone his skills by and still feed his passion for music by doing backing vocals for artist such as; Tweet, Onitsha, Shea Norman, Dwele, Keisha McFarland, Joy Denalane, Bilal, Jeffery Daniels and G – Force to name a few. After this short time away Williams felt he had gained enough experience to share with the world his story. “I been through a lot of things but rarely speak it. I got a lot to say and a lot to give. Just to let people that may have been, or even in the same situations I have, that there is a way out and that the sun will shine again.”

With Williams’ debut release ‘SoundCheck,’ his music takes his listeners through a snapshot of his highs and lows. “Soundcheck is for me, just scraping the surface. There’s a lot more that I want to say and share but I want to introduce my self first. There’s much more to come.”

‘SoundCheck’ feature’s collaborations from E-Tizz, Utter Once, Logic, Ricardo Mitchell, Ryan Carty, Victizzle, Aaron Forbes and also features remixes from Terron ‘T’ Murray (‘Chance’) and Kriswontwo (‘Never Late’).
