Rock/Worship Band The Waiting Kind Release Label Debut With Self-Titled EP

The Waiting Kind 2

Listener Records recently announced the signing of Boise-based worship band The Waiting Kind with the release of their self-titled EP as their label debut. Featuring a textured, cutting edge indie rock sound, the tracks on The Waiting Kind EP deftly explores the tensions of living in a fallen world and how God is consistently with us, no matter what we’re going through.

Produced by Jonny MacIntosh (Vicky Beeching, Trevor Davis, Sarah MacIntosh) The Waiting Kind EP features collaborations with fellow worship artists like Phil Wickham and Sarah MacIntosh, which helped shape the latest chapter in The Waiting Kind’s ministry.

“We’ve seen and been impacted by the power of an encounter,” shares lead singer, Derek Henbest. “Our hearts have been torn apart and mended together writing these songs and singing them with His people. The songs speak of the God we love, the Heaven He calls us to, and the struggle in between. Our desire is to see this generation experience the same encounter with their Savior, that we have had while experiencing these songs.”

Since the band began in 2005, they’ve also experienced the inherent beauty of waiting in worship. Unlike life’s day-to-day realities where waiting is nothing more than an inconvenience, those quiet moments where mankind’s brokenness is met with God’s redemption not only inspired the band’s name, but the message they hope everyone listening will latch on to.

“We really want to make music that connects with people and their struggles,” says drummer Dustin La Mont. “I know when we’ve gone through trying times in the past, worship music was all we had. And there’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing people connecting with God through worship. It’s why we love what we do.”
